Animoca Brands Acquires French Racing Game Studio Eden Games

Animoca Brands, a digital entertainment firm specializing in GameFi powered by blockchain technology, has declared the acquisition of renowned game studio Eden Games. Eden Games is widely recognized for its popular racing titles such as Need for Speed: Porsche Unleashed, F1 Mobile Racing, Gear.Club, Test Drive, and V-Rally. Animoca Brands has acquired the entire issued capital of Eden Games, previously owned by Engine Gaming and Media, a holding company with a focus on eSports content, streaming technology, gaming platforms, data analytics, and intellectual property.

Established in 1998 as part of Atari, Eden has achieved significant milestones, selling over 13 million game boxes and amassing over 60 million app downloads. The Gear.Club racing simulator, a flagship product, played a central role as the primary racing game qualifier for World’s Fastest Gamer, an e-sports TV show viewed by over 400 million households globally. Eden Games has cultivated lasting partnerships with more than 30 well-established automotive brands, including BMW, Bugatti, Porsche, Lotus, Pagani, and others. With 88 employees primarily based in Lyon, France, as per LinkedIn.

Animoca Brands’ acquisition of Eden Games follows its earlier acquisition of mobile game developer Grease Monkey earlier this year. The company aims to utilize Eden Games’ expertise to explore opportunities in blockchain games, contributing to both existing and new titles within the REVV Motorsport ecosystem.
